About Calonic
Calonic is an AI calorie tracker that works like a messaging app. Instead of searching food databases or scanning barcodes, you simply type, dictate or snap what you ate. Calonic recognises the dish and replies within seconds with calories and nutrients.
Behind the simple interface there is more than a counter. Calonic calculates a personal daily target based on the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and WHO reference values, keeps a food and weight diary, supports intermittent fasting and syncs meals and weight with Apple Health and Health Connect. Every suggested target can be adjusted individually, so low carb, low fat or high protein diets are all covered. If you like, you can switch the AI to dry humour.
Calonic is an independent project by Michael Zoelch, with no investors and no ads. The app is available in English and German for iPhone and Android.
“Tracking every meal already takes discipline. The tracking itself should take as little time as possible. I counted calories for years and always missed exactly that. With Calonic, logging a meal is as quick as sending a short message. And a rough estimate is still better than none.”
Michael Zoelch, founder
What's new in version 1.8
Weight diary with trends. A new weight section shows current weight, progress towards the target, the trend over selectable periods and the change per entry.
Goal and pace. Users choose to lose, maintain, gain or build muscle and set their pace. Calonic derives the daily target and shows when the target weight will be reached.
Automatic Apple Health sync. Meals and weight can go to Apple Health and Health Connect automatically, including later edits and deletions. Alcohol is recorded in Apple Health as standard drinks.
Favourites as templates. Frequent meals can be saved as favourites and logged with a single tap.
Reference values from WHO and DGE. Sugar and fat targets follow the recommendations of the WHO and the German Nutrition Society.

About the founder
Michael Zoelch works as an IT manager and has around 20 years of experience in IT and project management. He founded Calonic because he had counted calories for years himself and every extra tap in the usual apps got on his nerves. He develops the app as an independent project, with no investors and no ads.
